Actress Apu Biswas gets bail in attempted murder case
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mustafizur Rahman passed the order as the actress surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail.
A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to actress Apu Biswas in a case lodged over attempting to murder one Enamul Haque in the capital’s Bhatara area during the student-people uprising in 2024.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mustafizur Rahman passed the order as the actress surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail.
On 2 June, Apu Biswas secured six weeks of anticipatory bail in the case from the High Court.
According to the case documents, Enamul along with other Anti-Discrimination Student Movement campaigners took to the streets on 19 July 2024.
Subsequently, shots were fired at the protesters and Enamul sustained a bullet injury in his leg. He underwent treatment at a hospital and later filed the case against 283 people, including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Apu Biswas was also made an accused in the case.
