Speaking at a press conference held on Sunday afternoon at the Dipto TV premises, director Ashish Roy said that Porompora is essentially a family saga that explores the beliefs, values, and emotional conflicts of three generations living under one roof. The serial will premiere on Dipto TV on January 3.
He explained, “The story follows Nahian, who returns to Dhaka after growing up in England. Struggling to adapt to a new social and family environment, he finds himself caught between his modern lifestyle and mindset and the traditional outlook of his joint family. This clash of perspectives forms the core conflict of the story.”
Under one roof, the love, conflicts, compromises, and emotional bonds of three generations unfold, taking the narrative through various heartfelt and dramatic turns. Amid the struggle between personal dreams and emotional attachments, the characters gradually realize that although society evolves with time, the bonds of relationships remain eternal. This realization drives the essence of Porompora.
Veteran actress Dolly Johur, speaking about her role, said, “Whenever director Ashish Roy offers me a project, I agree without hesitation—and this time was no different. I portray the eldest member of the family in this serial. Every actor involved has given their best performance. The rest is for the audience to judge.”
Alongside Dolly Johur, Shatabdi Wadud, and Sushama Sarkar, the serial also stars Shafiul Raj, Nupur Ahsan, Jannatul Ferdous Kajol, Kazi Raju, Mili Bashar, Sanjida Mila, Shanarei Devi Shanu, Ragib Yasar, Upoma, Sangeeta Chowdhury, and Tanvir Rizvi. The line producer of the mega serial is Zahidul Islam Zahid.
The press conference was attended by Dipto TV’s Chief Executive Officer Tanvir Faruk, Head of Digital Mohammad Abu Nasim, AGM Mariam Haque, writer Ahmed Khan Hirak, the cast and crew of Porompora, senior officials of Dipto TV, and other associated artists and technicians.
The screenplay of Porompora is written by Afifa Mohsina Aroni, with dialogues penned by Sarwar Saikat. The serial will air Saturday through Thursday at 9:30 PM, starting January 3, on Dipto TV, Dipto Play, and Dipto TV’s digital platforms.
