News ‘Jay Kelly’ starring George Clooney to have UK premiere at BFI London Film Festival
The Netflix film will play at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on Friday, October 10.
Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly starring George Clooney will have its UK premiere as the Cunard Gala at BFI London Film Festival 2025.
The Netflix film will play at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on Friday, October 10.Baumbach is expected to attend alongside members of the cast, although specific members are not yet confirmed. Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup and Riley Keough star alongside Clooney.
Jay Kelly has its world premiere in competition at Venice Film Festival this week.Written by Baumbach and Emily Mortimer, the film follows the eponymous movie star and his devoted manager on a whirlwind journey through Europe, on which both men must confront their choices, relationships and legacies.
“We filmed, as well as edited, mixed, and recorded our score, here in London,” said Baumbach of the LFF selection. “Many of our amazing collaborators will be in attendance. It feels like a homecoming even for this New Yorker.”Kristy Matheson, LFF director, noted that Baumbach films including White Noise, Marriage Story and The Meyerowitz Stories have previously played at LFF.
“Noah returns with his signature blend of emotional honesty and comedy in a film that cleverly explores fame, friendship and our eternal love affair with the silver screen,” said Matheson.The festival will open on Wednesday, October 8 with Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. It will run from October 8-19.
