Shot across several Scottish locations—including the duo’s hometown of Dundee and Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland Ballroom—the film will receive its UK premiere at the Glasgow Film Theatre on 8 March, marking the finale of the festival’s 21st edition. The full programme is expected in January.

“Hamnet,” adapted by Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, stars Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal as Agnes and William Shakespeare in a drama that captures the grief and enduring love that inspired one of literature’s greatest works.
Among the highlights, eight films will have their world or international premieres in Marrakech, with nine additional titles developed through the festival’s industry initiative, the Atlas Workshops. Fourteen of the selected films are vying for their countries in the pursuit of Academy Awards.
Elsewhere, at the 53rd edition of the awards, Spain won two awards and Japan, Germany, Australia, Qatar, Canada, Denmark and Türkiye won one each.
