Teacher Arrested in Bogura for Raping Madrasa Student on Pretext of Marriage
According to case details, the 13-year-old victim, an eighth-grade madrasa student from Tontonia, Bogura town, had gone to visit her grandfather’s house in Sukhanpukur, Gabtali upazila, on August 28. Two days later, she went missing on her way home, prompting her family to file a general diary (GD) with Gabtali Police Station.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Zohurul Islam (41), the prime accused in a rape case filed over the assault of a madrasa student who was allegedly lured with the false promise of marriage.
He was sent to Bogura District Jail through a court on Friday (September 5) afternoon. RAB-12 Bogura Company Commander Squadron Leader Firoz Ahmed confirmed the matter in a press release later in the day.
RAB officials said Zohurul was arrested around 2 a.m. Thursday night from his residence in Beragari Poalgacha village of Shahjahanpur upazila.

The next day, on August 31, police rescued her from the Sabgram area of Bogura Sadar upazila.
The girl later stated that Zohurul Islam, son of Golam Mostafa of Beragari village, had lured her on the pretext of marriage and raped her at a house in Sabgram. Following her statement, her mother filed a case against him at Gabtali Police Station.
Acting on intelligence, RAB tracked the accused to his home and arrested him. He was later handed over to Gabtali Police.
Gabtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Serajul Haque said Zohurul had been produced before court and sent to jail.
