Symon Sadik Receives Rave Response in the USA
I miss shooting at FDC. I miss everything. Shooting hardly happens there now. I miss everyone—the people I was close to, and even those I didn’t talk to much but saw every day. They are all dear to me. I even miss the tea boys, our addas over tea, and listening to their stories.”
National Film Award–winning actor Symon Sadik, widely known for his breakout film Poramon, has delivered numerous popular films to Bangladeshi cinema lovers over the years. Crossing national borders for the first time, one of his films has now been released in the United States.
Renowned composer and music director Emon Saha, a seven-time National Film Award recipient, has made his directorial debut with the musical film Silence: A Musical Journey. The film was released in Bangladeshi theaters on November 7 and has now premiered in the United States as well. Since Sunday (January 25), the film has been screening at Movies of Lake Worth Theater, located at 7380 Lake Worth Road, Florida, where it has been receiving an overwhelming response from audiences.
Sharing his feelings about experiencing his first overseas release while living abroad, Symon Sadik said, “Every film release is a moment of joy and recognition for an artist. When our work finally reaches the audience, it brings immense satisfaction. But seeing my country’s film released in America is something truly special. I’ve been living here for quite some time, so the emotion feels even deeper. Director Emon Saha and I went to the theater together.”
He more added, “I am truly overwhelmed by the audience’s response. It was emotional, heartfelt, and incredibly encouraging. The viewers welcomed the film with sincerity, and receiving such appreciation from the audience is the greatest achievement for us.”
When asked about his experience working on the film and whether he misses shooting at FDC, Simon Sadik shared, “Emon Saha is a seven-time National Award–winning music director, and this is his first film as a director. This was also my first collaboration with him as an actor, which made the experience even more special. We previously won National Film Awards together for Jannat—I received Best Actor, and he won as Music Director. We’ve always shared great chemistry.”
He continued with emotion,“Of course, I miss shooting at FDC. I miss everything. Shooting hardly happens there now. I miss everyone—the people I was close to, and even those I didn’t talk to much but saw every day. They are all dear to me. I even miss the tea boys, our addas over tea, and listening to their stories.”
Silence: A Musical Journey tells the story of a young woman from a rural Baul family and her musical journey. The film portrays how she gradually loses her authentic musical identity while being drawn to the glamour, fame, and popularity of city life.
Director Emon Saha said,“The film explores the relationship between materialistic and spiritual journeys. When the girl moves from the village to the city, the audience will witness her struggles and life experiences.”
