The meeting was chaired by Barishal Deputy Commissioner Khairul Alam Suman and attended by Superintendent of Police Farzana Islam along with other relevant officials.
barishal Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazl Md Sanaullah has said that there is no scope for manipulation in the expatriate voting process. He assured that live verification will be mandatory during voting and that intelligence agency personnel will be deployed to ensure ballot security.
He made the remarks at a meeting with members of law enforcement agencies, digital teams, and observation teams at the Barishal Circuit House. The meeting was held in preparation for the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum 2026.
The Election Commissioner said that expatriate ballots will contain 119 symbols, which may take some additional time to open and count. At polling centers, only the presiding officer will be allowed to use a pen, while all other officials will use pencils.
He added that 10 magistrates will be deployed in each constituency during voting. The Election Commission is also taking special precautions to prevent irregularities through mobile financial services. Several meetings have already been held to curb vote-buying, and a specific limit on financial transactions has been set.
The EC further instructed officials not to accept any form of hospitality or entertainment. Emphasizing the need to counter misinformation and rumors, he said that accurate and timely information must be delivered to the public.
Special arrangements will be made to ensure voting rights for elderly, disabled, and injured voters. Additionally, CCTV cameras will be installed in all districts and polling centers to ensure transparency.
He reiterated that the election will be conducted with honesty and neutrality, without favoritism toward any political party—large or small. He warned that strict action will be taken against any official found acting in a biased manner.
