Pori Moni falls sick, cross-examination postponed
A Dhaka tribunal on Monday postponed the cross-examination of actress Pori Moni (Shamsunnahar Smriti) in the Savar Boat Club assault and sexual harassment case. The new hearing date is set for 9 September.

Judge Shahina Haque Siddika of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9 postponed the date after Pori Moni fell ill due to extreme heat.
On 8 June 2021, Pori Moni ignited heated discussions when she alleged that she was harassed at the Boat Club in Savar.
Later on, she filed a case on 14 June that year, naming businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood and his friend Tuhin Siddique Ami, and four unknown individuals.
After an investigation, Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Savar Model Police Station, filed a charge sheet in the court on 7 September, naming three suspects - Nasir, Tuhin Siddiqui Ami, and Shahidul Alam.
On 18 May 2022, the court indicted the suspects and started the trial. The hearing of testimony began on 29 November that year with the recording of partial statements from Pori Moni. She completed her testimony on 22 September 2024.
