BNP Nomination Race in Barishal Division
According to the roadmap for the 13th National Parliamentary Elections, voting is scheduled to take place in the first half of February. With this goal in mind, the BNP is actively working to finalize single candidates for each seat. Across all divisions, special emphasis is being placed on Generation Z in the list of potential nominees. In fact, this year, “qualified” young leaders may emerge as surprise picks in the nomination process.
Popularity in their constituency, sacrifices for the party, contributions to the anti-fascist movements of recent years, standing by leaders and activists during difficult times, and organizational skills—these are the key criteria under review, and the nomination process is already nearing its final stage.
In this regard, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir recently told Daily Bangladesh Time in an interview that young leaders will be given the highest priority in the nomination process. The standards will include a candidate’s popularity, electability, organizational skills, public acceptability, and participation in past movements.
When asked, BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku told DAILY bangladesh Time, “Politics cannot function without a combination of the old and the new. While we are talking about giving importance to the youth, it does not mean the seniors will be excluded. We never said that. Nominations will come from a mix of both young and experienced leaders. Those who are accepted by the people and can draw votes will get the nominations.”
In the race to secure the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol in the 13th National Elections, many are already campaigning in Barishal Division.
In Barishal-1, Zahid Uddin Swapon and Akon Quddusur Rahman are active. In Barishal-4, Rajib Ahsan is campaigning. In Barishal-2, Dulal Hossain and Saif Mahmud Jewel are preparing, while in Barishal-5, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Abu Naser Muhammad Rahmatullah have taken up election activities.
From Bhola-4, Nurul Islam Nayan is in the race. In Bhola-1, Golam Nabi Alamgir and Haider Ali Lelin are campaigning. In Patuakhali-2, Muhammad Munir Hossain is preparing, while in Patuakhali-3, Hasan Mamun is contesting. In Patuakhali-4, ABM Mosharraf Hossain is in the running.
